Took the SVS Plunge Today!

Although my Polk sub's do an OK job, after a lot of listening to other sub options, I decided to order SVS subs today! I ordered the 20-39 PC+ for the main HT system, and one of the new PB10-ISD for either the rear sub in the main HT system or the sub for the second HT system going in the rec-room in the new place. I don't move to the new place until next spring, so I will have to somehow behave myself with these at the current apartment! The second HT system consists of clearance Polk RTi's from the great CC sale .... RTi6 mains, CSi5 front center, RTi4's surrounds, CSi3 rear center, Yamaha HTR-5660 receiver. I'll have to decide whether to utilize my current PSW-505 and PSW-303 or not! I can't wait to get these and start playing!!!! Happy B-Day and Merry Christmas to me!

Great choice, you won't be dissapointed. I'm pretty sure another member is close to taking the plunge as well....we shall see.
Happy ListeningCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
You'll have to let us know what the pb10-isd sounds like. I'm curious since its in my price range and I could always use a new sub...... BTW what colour did you get it in? Have fun with your new toys.

All my other speakers are in black, so I didn't get too daring. Went with basic black, as God intended all audio equipment to be ;-) The PB10-ISD review by one of the other forum members convinced me to give it a try. I don't think I will be disappointed!DKG999

opus - got the UPS notification today that the PC+ 20-39 will be delivered on Monday, so you're safe for the weekend! I haven't got a notification on the PB10 yet, although I saw postings on other forums today that they have started shipping them. As I just ordered this week, I'm sure that I am a ways down on the list.DKG999

....You'll have just enough time to shore up the foundation, silicone the windows, and nail the pictures to the wall.
Owning a SVS has it's responsibilities you know.
I have the PC+ 20-39, and let me tell you, you won't need a second sub in the main HT.
Enjoy!

Luc - I'm living in an apt. at the moment, so I will have to behave until I move to the house this coming spring. I wanted to get the new subs bought now, because we all know how much of a toy budget a new house sucks up! The new HT room will be around 16' x 22', so I'm sure the PC+20-39 will be all that's needed. I got the PB10 on kind of a whim, but I'm hoping it works well for the secondary HT system that will most likely go in the rec room. Does anyone know if a sub positioned underneath a pool table sounds OKDKG999

Your departure from the apartment complex will be celebrated en mass.
Your room is about the same size as mine the PC+ will serve admirably.
The sub under the pool table sounds like a great idea....as long as you play for money, and time your playing so that your opponent is always shooting just when the action starts.

Its here!!!!!!!!! UPS provided a little bit of a scare, large hole in the side of the box, but no damage to the sub! Just got it set up and ran the basic YPAQ calibration provided by the Yamaha receiver. Played the beginning of Master & Commander .... ohmymymy .... have to say the first impression is that the SVS sub is everything it is advertised to be. This is gonna be fun!
The downstairs neighbors might as well just watch what ever movie I am watching !!!!!!!!!!!DKG999

Congrats on your purchase... Think "break-in period"...
Both your SVS and your neighbors will thank you...More later,

Yep, I'm heeding the break-in period suggestions! Actually, being in the apt. keeps levels pretty much at break-in anyway.
I have to say, that I really didn't expect the amount of difference between the SVS and the dual PSW-505/303 that I was using. At the low volume levels I listen at in the apt, the 505/303 combination gave me lots of sound, but I didn't realize how boomy and shallow it was. With the SVS, even at low levels, you get nice tight bass and you get the air movement that lets you feel the bass. Very, very nice! I can't wait to get the PB10-ISD for my second HT system. I definetely don't need dual subs in the main HT, now that the PC+20-39 is here!
The sad thing is, I listened to my Polk subs against some pretty good competition at the local audio stores. And they held up pretty well, i.e. the incremental dollars to go to any of the higher priced subs didn't seem to buy you a lot in sound quality. This is why the extreme difference of the SVS is nicely suprising! When the PB10-ISD gets here, the Polks will be looking for a new home.DKG999
