Ready to buy. Need more help.
Well thanks everybody for the help so far. Now that I have been swayed to buy the rti series I have seen them only available at crutchfield who I know from the past doesn't specialize in good prices. I hear a lot about used speakers and open box stuff but not too sure where to look. I was also wondering what the major differences are between the rti10's and 12's as far a home theater and good music. Is it as simple as more speakers more sound or more a volume thing when amplified? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

it seems like the 8's and 12's are the fave's...just think the 12's are some big A$$ speakers you may opt for the 8's with a good sub and some good rears

I personally like the RTi10s. Do you have a local tweeter audio by you? If you do they carry those models and you can give a listen. I liked the sound of the 10s better, I listened to them side by side. Some people like the 8s, It really all depends on you. For my own setup the 10s were a perfect match with my subwoofer.
Best advice go listen to them in person.Yamaha RXV3300

I got the 10's, and I am not as technical as the other vets are around here, but I know what sounds good to me and the 10's do. I read that alot of the critics say that the 10's don't have good mids. I feel as if they are fine for my music and HT applications. I traded the 8's in for these for lack of bass. Sometimes you don't need the type of bass a sub can give for certain types of music. I listen to my jazz and soft music without my sub. These speaker tend to do well with that kind of music with the sub off. Enough bass and clarity to give you what you need. I suggest you check out the review section on this web site. Go to speaker and select the type of speaker your shopping for, and click reviews.
As for the 12's, these 500w monsters will require alot of power. If you get these, be ready to amp up!:DMain Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus

Thanks for the heads up reeltrouble. Also wondering if my Yamaha RX-V750 receiver will drive the rti10's pretty well or are they a bit overkill without an amp.

Just want to thank everybody for their replys. I bought the RTi8's and CSi5 center for now. I will be getting the SVS sub for X mas. I wired it all up this weekend and wouldn't you know it but I looked for a movie to watch and try em out on and Terminator 3 was on the tube. Needless to say my girlfriend got mad and we were about 45 minutes late to my mothers birthday party but i was in euphoria. Even without the sub or rears yet. But thanks again for the input everybody. Club Polk rules...
