I am thinking of going to electric razor as I have sensitive skin and very coarse hair which leaves me with morning battle wounds almost every day.

For peeps who have gone from blade to electric how did you find it ? any good razors out there ? anyone know the diff between the three circle razors and the straight across one ?

thanks for the info
and I don't need tweeks and mods for the electric razor ;)

thanks
JF

I also have course facial hair, and have yet to find an electric that does anything good. I've found I'm cut much less when I use the "Mach 3" razors though... sounds gimmicky, but they really do work.

If you do find an electric that works well, post it, cuz I've wasted more money....
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I am half Italian, so what is a 5 o'clock shadow for most is more like an 11:45 shawdow for me. I also seem to have thin, sensitive skin.

I switched over to an electric about 4 years ago. It is a Norelco, but I forget which model. It has the 3 circles.

    Here are my tips:

    1. Stay with it. The first week or two will be horrible. Very irritating to the skin, and hard to get a close shave. After a good week or two, your skin will adjust to it. Once you have adjusted to it, it is SOOOOO much better than a razor blade.

    2. Shave BEFORE you wash your face/take a shower. Your skin must be dry & smooth. If you wash your face/shower, your skin is not as smooth, and the razor will not glide across very well.

    3. Don't spend too much time on one spot. Keep the razor moving. Don't press too hard. Just let it glide across your face.

    4. As with a blade, I always wach my face with hot water or take a shower afterwards.

Hope this helps. The most important thing I can tell you is to stick with it. At first you will think it is a mistake, but you will grow accustomed to it.

Good lord, we discuss anything and everything on this board.

    Too funny!

I used an electric razor a few times. SUCKED! Burned my skin and got a crappy shave.

I like the Sensor Excel razors the best. Gives me a "Smooth as a babies ****" shave everytime!

I've almost always used electric. I prefer the straight kind, didn't really like the circled one. I think the straight makes it easier because it's like you're shaving with a "real" razor.

I use a Pre-Electric shave gel from Afta and it helps out alot, makes your face nice and smooth for the razor to run over and it seems to give me a much closer shave.

I saw a big nasty fat lady the other day with a full mustache. Not just that "menopause" cookie duster thing, but a full on stache. I almost puked. What does that lady think when she looks in the mirror, it looks good? Stupid people....

Have you tried the old "safety razor"? I went back to it from the disposable razors and it helped. Of course you have to be more careful with it but the blade is much sharper and cuts with ease. I hate the three blade disposables (Mach 3's and such), I find it easier to shave with a single blade.

Try the new Shick(sp?) Quattro Razor. 4-Blades so it should give a closer shave. I havent tried it yet cuz I have no problems with Mach 3 but give it a go, you might like it.

    I have that Razor!

    The Quatro or whatever...

Works well, until you dull the blade, then they are like 6-7 dollars for 4...

    Anyways...

Only way you can cut yourself with that razor is to go sideways...only way...

Mach 3, etc - I have had no problems...

The cheap disposable things...I cut myself 2 or 3 times

is the Quattro any better then Mach 3? I might consider switching. Does the Actual Razor thing swivel up and down like the Mach 3?

Anybody tried that new Mach 3 razor with that 'electro-magnetic thing' that brings the hair up to make it easier to cut?

I use the electric clippers that barbers use to shave my face. Andis brand. It works pretty good and I never get bumps or war wounds. It doesn't always give a perfect clean shave but it's good enough for work.

I make it a point to NEVER date a woman who:

    or
    3) has a better mustache

If you go electric, you'll have to pick between the straight and swirly. I tried switching from Norelco to Braun but it could never cut as well as the Norelco. My problem is I don't clean and replace the blades enough so I spend more time swirling. The pre-electric stuff works well too. If you have zits, electric is less painful? hehe
I use mach 3 when I need the closet shave, but like others I get a 5 o clock shadow within hours of shaving....

Laser hair removal is not permanent, read the fine prints ;)
