Hey,what happen on SNL last night? someone said Ashlee Simpson got caught lip synching. is that right? something about the band starting playing the wrong song.. and she walked off stage.. and the band kept on playing without her.

funny. but i wanna see the clip. I tried Collegehumor.com but it's so busy there.. the clip wouldn't load up.

Yep, it happened. I happened to be watching SNL last night and the camera went to her, the band started playing and her singing faded in immediately and she had the mic down to her sides. No where near her face. She then just trotted off stage.
It almost sounded like the recording (her singing) started mid-song or something. So immediately they noticed and faded the vocals out. If that's what truly happened, I'm sure whoever queued that music is outta-here.
Gave us all a good chuckle.

It's kinda funny... the local news was just talking about this, acting like it was some huge scandal (on par with Mili Vinilli or something). While I agree it was a bit of a embarassment I wonder if all those people think that every singer actually sings every song live? I have seen my share of bands that obviously do sing everything live, but I would actually be a bit surprised if most bands play every song for real concert after concert throughout an entire tour.

One question: WhoTF is Ashlee Simpson???

Ha!, i was thinking the same thing. I was flipping through and I actually saw her on SNL and was wondering what the hell had happened. I had no idea who she was. I guess I wasn't missing much.

They were saying on the news this morning that her last performance was so poor that SNL didn't want to risk it, hence the lip-syncing.

    SNL = Saturday Night Live

the shows been around for 25+ years. It was a show designed whereby up and coming comics could showcase their talents. and it worked for about 20 yrs.. but not anymore.

Lots of stars began their careers on SNL. the likes of Bill Murry, Dan Akroyd, Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrall, John Belushi, Julia Sweeney, and many many others.

They had a 'documentary' on Ashlee Simpson on Vh1 not to long ago... She sounded really bad on TV, wouldnt surprise if she sounds bad in concert. I have noticed ALOT of modern day singers voices are doctored on their CDs to make up for the lack of talent.

    Heck, I could be a singer! :p

    Dear Ashlee,

I hope your financial planner invested the money you made over the last several months very wisely.

Your (so-called) music career is sinking like the Titanic after it was struck by an iceburg last Saturday night. Even your big sis Jessica can't keep it from hitting bottom, although it was her that was responsible for it taking off. Most people call her an idiot, but I think launching a career and an album of a completely talentless twit like you shows she does have brains after all.

Here is a suggestion. Take some of the money you made, buy some fake titties, get that big **** beak, aka your nose, shaved down to some normal size and start taking your clothes off for various magazines. Keep using your big sisters fame as a marketing tool. Keep making regular appearances on MTV since those dunderheads will buy into anything. Don't sweat the SNL appearance. They'll have you back sometime in the near future to make fun of the big flop this past Saturday night since they're running out of material!

    Sincerely,

    Someone who hates your music
    No excuses!

    I dig her.

Love the 'dogpile' mentality in the media. 'What, someone had a goof? CHARGE!!! KILL!!!! KILL!!!! Who cares. Isn't the entire Superbowl halftime show lipsynced by most?

One thing I'm fairly certain of, she's got more musical talent than every one of you assclowns in this thread.

She has no talent at all! She just happened to have a sister that struck it huge. I wonder if Ashlee writes the lyrics and music for all her songs.

She has no stage preseance at all. Her dancing SUX! Outside of a studio, she sounds terrible. If I were the SNL producers, I would have made her **** lip sync too! Even the studio couldn't polish up her horrible voice. Any 16 year old (or even Polk forum member) can be made to sound recordable. Just get a couple of writers, a backup band and let the recording go.

Whatever happened to the days when musicians actually wrote their songs.

If it means anything Russ, we all dig you. How's about YOU cutting an album. ;)
