Use Monitor 50's for rear speakers?

I am in the process of putting together a HT system. I currently have Monitor 70's , PSW12 and a CS2 hooked up to a Yamaha HTR 5560. I do not like the idea of speakers on stands for the rear, I prefer towers. Even though I have read that Monitor 40's are recomended, would it be too much to use Monitor 50's for the rear?

Nope, just make sure u pick up a SPL meter from Radioshack (if they still sell them) and calibrate it!

You might even enjoy 70's as rears, if you like them as mains. All depends on how you plan to set up your speakers, i.e., Large or small, and if small, where you are going to cross-over to your sub.

Regardless, Sid's steering you true on the need to calibrate. RS still sells the digital SPL meter, but dropped the analog.
