I know very little about your vehicle but, the problem you describe is all to common. In general the engine loping that you are describing is most commonly caused by carbon buildup in the throttle body. Hope this proves helpful.

my mom's honda odessey does the same thing, though it doesn't jump a thousand rpm... the dealer has no freakin clue what does it, but at least you know you're not alone :).

p.s. if you figure it out, p.m. me, yah?

BS. The problem is specific and has a fix. Be methodical as you address each possible cause. Any mechanic that can't solve this specific problem is either incompetant or preying (for profit) on your ignorance.

he's got a 95 integra though... unless you had a typo he'll need a different haynes manuel... just go to autozone and find the one for your car... or go all out and drop a good 120-150 into it and go to a dealership and get the actual service manuel for the car... much more detailed and vehicle specific...

and is it just me or does Ronald seem to struggle with his homophones.....

Helms makes manuals for most dealers.
Most Manuals are Online. The acura they all are online PDF format. It just a matter of finding the Right Site. Its around 1400pages of Information. Most Hybirds Honda/Acura has them.

Dont buy the cheap Chiltons waste of money.

Now he has no clue what month it is either, so it becomes obvious that he lives out of touch with reality.

On the topic, though, my car does the same thing between 1 and 2krpm. I've never isolated it, and it's been 5 years. oh, and it's had 3 different engies, and it remains there.

The only reference I have found on this line in my car is a bad solder point on the ECM... I kick it and it runs better, sometimes. Maybe look on a few forums, though most car forums are'nt very active.
