Which sound damper is better Dynamat or Cascade? I have a 2001 Volvo S40 and was wanting to add sound insulation to my car, but I heard that Dynamat will add roughly 25 pounds to my car while the Cascade stuff is better sound insualtion and will only add about 15 pounds. Any ideas?

I used roofing compounds along the seams and dips and nooks and crannies and then put tar paper over it and then carpet. For 30$, it made a HUGE differance and I got people lining up wanting me to do the same to their car. Only side effect is the smell of asphalt. Don;t leave your windows up in the summer...

I've used dynamat xtreme, it doesn't smell at all. It's real thin, you can add multiple layers easily. It's easy to install, no heat gun required, and it bonds to metal really well. 4 sq. ft. of it weighs 2 lbs. If you did your whole car, 36 sq. ft. would add 20 pounds. Not bad.
