What has happened to my sub?

This question is actually for my dad..... He put on a movie and then we both noticed his sub was crackling and had absolutly no bass coming out from it. The sub is a psw 202 and is a year and a half old. Both my brother and dad claim to not have cranked any music or movies recently so I'm not sure if it has been blown or something that way but the night before that we did have a power outage. Is it possible the power outage caused a surge when it came back on and bypassed his crappy surge protector and fritzed the amp and/or subwoofer? BTW he unplugged it then plugged it back in and it hummed for a bit (which it was doing before) then made a pop and the light on the back of the amp hasn't lit up since and now the sub won't even function. I guess what I'm trying to find out for my dad is what happened to his sub? Is the speaker itself wrecked, just the amplifer or maybe even both? Thanks for helping out me and my slightly enraged dad :D ,

Michael

not sure but it could be a fuse in the 202 ? maybe you just need to replace it (the fuse that is)

OK thanks I might have to consult the customer service people. As for the fuse I don't belive that the 202 is an externally replacable fuse. After I posted this thread I read some reviews of the 202 and it seems this is a similar problem many people have.... either the amp fritz's or the sub blows. Well thanks for the imput I'll have to let my dad know what you said.

Yep Mike it is a common problem. I took my 202 back to the store I bought it and they replaced the amplifier. Its not the fuse. You can also send the amp to polk and they will send you a new one.
