As shack has pointed out, we haven't really won anything yet. The Sox still have work to do.

It would be sorta cool to see the Cards and the Sox play as they beat the Sox in 7 games in both '46 and '67.

It doesn't take away from the fact that it's GREAT to see the Yankees lose.

As a Red Sox fan, I often wonder this myself. I mean, the curse says we can't win the World Series. We were in it in '86 and blew it. It's not like we've never made it to the Series since 1918.

On the other hand, it's never came through the Yankees, adn the Yankees are the reason for "the Curse."

And considering the Curse is really all inteh players and fans' (and Dan Shaughnessy, who made it up)'s heads, as long as they believe it's over, it is.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I personally don't really believe in the curse. My memories of the Red Sox go back to the mid 70's. 1975 was a little before my time but I remember the 1978 season. Sure, Bucky Dent is the guy that people remember, however, most people forget that at one point Boston was 13 or 14 games ahead of NY. They actually had to win a bunch of games at the end of the season just to force the playoff. The 78 Yankees were a GREAT team with no real weakness. Boston on the other hand had a generally lousy pitching staff and were in a literal free fall the last couple months of the season.

1986, everyone blames Bill Buckner. Hell, I still do to an extent but were it not for the inspired season he played, they never would have made it in the first place. People tend to forget Bob Stanley's wild pitch etc. The Sox had a very spotty bullpen that year. Clemens had the season of a lifetime but other than that there wasn't much in the way of pitching. The bullpen, other than Scharaldi (sp) sucked.

Look, I'm of the opinion that Boston's MANAGERS have ranged from medicore to flat out lousy over the years. I also believe that the front office has never been that committed to winning. The Red Sox will fill the stands of Fenway even if the don't win one game all year. The generally will cater to the whims of one franchise player who all the kids in New England adore (Ted Williams, Yaz, Boggs, Mo Vaughn, Nomar pretty much in sucession) and not worry so much about the whole team.

This year's Sox (actually been building for a few years) are different from previous Sox teams in that they play like a real team not just a collection of individuals.

    Just my .02 on it.

Maybe if they win.....all the sox fans will quit WHINING about the curse (not you Troy- since you don't believe)!

But what excuse will they have in the future when they lose? It'll be nice to hear them say "we lost because the other team was better" or that "we just suck" or "we choked".

Well either way it will be over soon and we can go back to watching hockey. Oh...wait....There is no hockey...my bad.

At least the NBA is just around the corner....Unfortunately Kobe has lost out on his bid to make the NBA Felon All-Stars...but hey...he's still young....

I love how the rest of the world thinks all we New Englanders do is WHINE about the curse. We're harder on our athletes than anyone else that I know of when they screw up. No one just says "oh, it's the curse, no wonder we didn't win." Bill Buckner is a VILLAIN in this town, despite being a great player for years, he screwed up ONCE. No one gave him OR the team a free pass just because of a mythological "curse."

Every town complains and "whines" when their team consistently loses. EVERY TOWN. At least the ones that care about their sports teams.

I don't know why I'm taking to heart the opinion of someone who actually looks forward to the NBA, but... it just reeks of hypocrisy when everyone jumps on New England just for being passionate about our sports teams.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
