custom boxes

does any one have any tips for doing your own carpeting on things such as boxes and what not? any thing helps thanks.

    Crutchfield has some box-building advice. most notably, indent the sides of your box by 3/8" to 1/2" in order to be able to wrap the carpet over the edge and hide the seams in the corners. lookee here for what i'm talking about (this is my as-yet-uncarpeted dorm sub).

    and heavy duty staples (not the office kind) in the seams if the freakin thing just won't stay down. and don't put the carpet under where the sub'll mount, it should be screwed straight to the wood (if you're going to have anything in between, make it something useful, like weather stripping, which actually is a good idea).
