Hey guys nice site you have here....I would like to ask for your opinion.I just recently purchased Polk RTi12's for the front and a CSi5 for the center...both in cherry wood.I will be purchasing a Velodyne sub very soon.My question is what Polk speaker should I use for the surround speaker? I am confused to either use a regular speaker or a Di/Bi polar speaker. Here is a picture of my set up as of now.On the right side just above the speaker you can see a taped outline....I am having it cut out for my gear to be flush mounted. Thanks in advance.

what about $$ flow the best bet would be more towers like the 8's but if you like the sound of bi-dipole and not direct the fix3 would be a good choice depending on the set up of the rear wall. If not the 6's or the 4's on stands or on wall

I'd rather go with speakers on stands.I really don't know....what I mean that I never have heard bi-dipole speakers....that is why the confusion. Is there an advantage or difference over a direct speaker. Thanks again.....my rear wall where the couch rest on is fully mirrored.

for the fx's you may have to build your own stands the base a weird shape, the 6's are very large bookshelves the 4's might be nice size. have you read the info on the polk site regarding bi-dipoles ? you can order their hometheatre set guide for free and it is full of info .

Building stands is not a problem....No I have not read any info yet on them but I am having them mail me the handbook.Off hand just by looking at their design I would think the bi-dipoles have more of a reflected sound......So far I am still confused to which type of rears to go with....

I myself would like to get bi-dipoles but my room set up would not be good for that type of speaker (we have a wall beside the couch that would reflect to much sound) will you run a 5.1 6.1 or 7.1 system ?

the fx are more of a discrete room filling while I find the directs more in your face. Maybe someone who owns some could chime in here and help out

IMO, dipole/bipole speakers are not very good for music. If you plan on only using the system as a theater system then its fine. I listen to alot of music and don't want the sound bouncing around. Monopole is the way to go if you listen to a lot of music. IMO

    Hope this helps.

Oh, and to answer your question = RTi4s would be my choice :)

    Hi,

My choice was to use RTi6 all around (5.1 system). If you ever plan on listening to DVD-Audio or SACD, you'll be glad you did. I have a few now and WHEW...what great sound from literally everywhere.

Depends on your room. I love the Bipole speakers so I'll recommend FXi5's personally.
