Same price now......what would you get?

my first choice is the Denon 3805. trying to work out a deal, but if i can't , one of those Yammies will do just fine.

Where exactly do you want responses to your many 'which receiver' threads? Reponses may be scattered because they can't follow where your train of thought(s) are going.........

How about you just keep all your various receiver questions under one thread so that you don't make people try and follow 20 different ones to know what your history is on the subject?

You're making it EXTREMELY hard for people to give you consistent information if they can't follow you through all the different threads........

that's what i am doing now. Hence, posting the question under "electronics" where it is supposed to be. My thinking before was more people seemed to be on the "speakers" forum. I get it now...it's because they want to talk about speakers there, not receivers.;)

To be honest, I was even getting confused keeping up with all my different posts....

It's good to post in the proper sections of the forum but don't worry about not getting to everyone because if you look on the opening page there's a View New Posts link that most people here use that will show the new posts. As Brett said, try not to start too many new threads because it's hard to follow along with what you want to do. If you keep it all in one thread it's much easier for everyone to follow.

As for the question, I don't think you'll go wrong with either receiver. Especially, if you're thinking of getting an amp later on to power your mains.

You are the one who makes the decision in the end. Yeah, we can give you our opinions, but YOU have to decide. Go out and try some of this stuff, search it on the Net. Form your own opinion, you have to live with it, not us.

Thanks for the tips. i HAVE done extensive research and have narrowed it down to a few. My problem is I don't understand power ratings (although i am learning) and all the different circutry, conductors etc...new to this. Was just a general average consumer, who wants to understand better technology.

And it's not like I can listen to these models and make a choice. That's why I am asking people who have heard them. They are not available in my city. Except for the Denon 3805. I have not heard any of the Yamaha products. And at this time I can't. The 1400 and 2400 are dscontinued and sold out. The 1500 and 2500 models are yet to arrive.

If I seem like I am getting out of hand I apologize for that. DCarlson has told me about the "new post" feature on this board and I will use it.

Now. Once and for all. i will say I want the Denon 3805 and am trying to negotiate. If I can't get that one for the cost I want $1100 Canadian) I will go for one of the Yamaha products . From my research it looks like the Rx V 1500 is better and cheaper than the 2400, which I hear is an amazing reciever. I do wish I could hear them side by side but I can't.

So if anyone has some expertise on specs as I do not, could you please tell me why someone would get the 2400 over the 1500 now?

BTW....I agree maybe I have posted a bit much on this. But the next guy doing his research will benefit from my posts, as I did reading all of yours.

Yeah, sure... That's what they all say.

When I was shopping for a receiver a couple of years ago, I demoed a Denon 2802 and Yamaha RXV-1400 (maybe 1200... I can't remember). I bought the Denon but the difference in my mind was pretty small. I really don't think you'll go wrong with either. I chose the Denon because it seemed a little less edgy in the highs but that was an in store demo and it's best to test stuff at home if possible. IMO, it's truly a toss up with my personal preference being Denon.

If you're more into music, I'd say get yourself a good 2 channel integrated amp. It'll be money much more wisely spent.

If you're more into movies, get yourself a receiver with pre-outs and plan on getting an external amp. I came across this the other day and I'm sure it sounds great.

I completely understand your dilemma. It is clear to me that all you want to do is maximize your cost benefit ratio. My opinion regarding the Yamaha 14, 24 verses its respective new, is stick with the 1400 for the steal price of $300. The new series of Yamaha seems to have a few new bells ( sound fields that will probably never get used.) and whistles ( 10 more watts/channel)

Dude, the problem is your trying to drive a speaker set up with what will be an inadequate piece of gear. If you don't go at least 200 WPC, your just not going to be getting what you want out of the speakers you have chosen.

IMHO, save up and get a solid AVR (like doro is saying) or go seperates.

You'll ask too much and either kill the speakers or fry the electronics. Trust me on this, I have done both....;)
