SDA SRS Imaging Questions

Polk manuals state that SDA SRS series speakers need to bet roughly three feet from side walls and six to eight feet apart to ensure proper imaging. My question is if you put SDAs into a home theater cabinet, will that compromise the imaging? i.e. does a lot of the "presence" come from the fabric covered openings on the sides, or does the bulk of it come from the front. I am assuming that enclosing thm will enhance the bass response, but the imaging is what makes these speakers worthwhile. I am hesitant to do it for these reasons, but input would be greatly appreciated. Any thoughts?

No sound comes from the sides, it's all from the front. However, if you restrict the dispersion by putting them in an enclosure you will lose the SDA effect.

I guess my thought was that the enclosure would not extend beyond the front of the speakers and that the speakers would be probably 1/2" in front of the enclosure itself.

That might work, but they really don't like stuff around or in between them.
