Hello, I have the Polk RM 6600 system with the PSW-350 subwoofer. People told me I can not use the speakers for my guitar becuase they are designed for music reproduction, not music production. Is there anything that would allow me to play my guitar on the 6600 speakers? Thanks for any help.

    Hi:

You could get a device from RS that would allow you to connect your guitar to your receiver but I wouldn't recommend it. Certain conditions could cause hum and popping damaging the speakers.

I'd heard unprocessed, sound (music) has mucho
distortion, (which as you know is very similar to unprocessed cheese) and can really strain a standard audio speaker.
Maybe it's just an old wives tale.

My cousin runs his guitar through his computer and then out to some speakers. So, if by chance you have a computer near by, you could give that a whirl.

I would NOT do this, I've had friends that have blown many speakers doing this. Profesional woofers are usually made of tougher stuff than consumer speakers, and the circuitry in guitar amps do process the sound, rather than just re-playing the sound. There's too much variation in sound and levels, no filtration....it's just a bad idea. Try your computer, that would definatley work better, and you won't feel as bad if you blow a $10 comp speaker, than a $700 set of 6600s.
