When did people become so weak.....

This whole Flu Vaccination "hysteria" has made me wonder exactly at what points people became such idiots....I mean, obviously the shot hasn't been around for ever, and I don't remember it being so out of hand. I know all over the nation it's being reported like this, but we've had news stories here in AZ about people waiting for the better part of 4 hours in line to get this vaccine. When did this happen? When did people get into the mindset that if they didn't have this the world as they knew it would end? It's not just a simple "oh well".....people are actually freaked out if they don't have it.....WTH?!?!?!?

That's just one example of the sudden shift in 'mass panic' if we don't somehow have something that we've become mysteriously dependent on.

I'm curious as to what other ways have hit you on how people have been reduced to this type of mentality/behavior?

I am very grateful to never have had the flu, and as I understand it, it is worse to get the shot ahead of time vs. getting it while u have early symptons (but what do I know?)

right we get free flu shots every year and the only year I took it I was sick as can be every other year a cold here and there...

How about the availability of low carb --insert every possible food product here--? Somehow people lived before low carb milk, energy bars, and beer of all things. I know, hard to believe. As a carbo-holic, it's especially confusing to me.

I heard last night that appox' 6700 folks die every year from the flu, 6000 of those folks are elderly.

Fear is a great way to control the masses. Shame really - It seems most folks believe what they are told at face value and roll with it.

Don't be so grateful too quickly. The flu is one of the main ways your body disposes of accumulated toxins. That's why whenever someone gets the flu, they have a runny nose, diarrhea, sweating, coughing, etc. -- they're throwing off garbage in their systems. There are some people in poor health who don't get the flu because their body is unable to rid itself of these poisons. That's probably not you, but it's something to think about.

Now, I think the whole concept of flu shots is ridiculous. Sometimes the American medical system operates **** backwards. Why treat symptoms before they occur without addressing the causes? The causes include stress, poor diet, polluted air, lack of exercise, sedentary lifestlye, lack of sleep, not drinking enough water, sexual excesses, smoking, drinking, etc. I work in health care and take care of elderly people, and they don't need a damn flu shot. The best way to prevent the elderly from dying is to keep them them out of the hospital because it's a great place to kill someone without guilt, shame or responsibility (but that's another rant...).

I came down with the flu the last day of my vacation which was Monday. I had to fly twice to get home.....Eugene to S.F. and S.F. to San Diego. I still feel like **** and my ears still haven't unplugged from the flying. My wife has convinced me to get the flu shot the last 2 years and I will continue to get it in the future because I didn't get sick either of those years. Before that it seemed like I would always get sick sometime between Nov 1 and Christmas. What sucks is that we don't usually get the shot until late October so this year I wouldn't have got it early enough anyway. I guess the flu decided to fool me this year and sneak in early. Sneaky stinkin' germs :mad:
BTW...I have a pretty healthy lifestyle and I haven't been sick like this in 2 years. Maybe it was just my body's way of dealing with the toxins mentioned above...sneaking in before the flu shot.

If you're not elderly or a kid or have some immune disorder...you don't need the flu shot. You can survive if you get it...and nearly everyone I know who has gotten one has gotten sick. :rolleyes:

I always got the flu every fricken year up until 4 years ago when I started getting the flu shot, haven't had it since. I'm not running out to get one this year though because there are older folks who could use it more than me.

You can still get the flu after having a flu shot, it will lessen the symptoms and duration though.

Hmmmm.......consider this, new livers are really hard to come by.

i've volunteered on an ambulance for 12 years and stare the flu in the eye every season and yet, no friggin flue shot for me. my fear of needles and the fact that every person i see get the shot gets sick as a dog is enough for me to say no thanx.

keep the shots they have for the sick and elderly (and perhaps young children) and let everyone else just suck it up
!!!!

You have to remember that its old people capital in AZ. I am sure the 'hysteria' there is much more amplified than elsewhere in the US, except Florida maybe.

Some lady in CA was waiting 4 hours in line to get the shot and died in the line.......

Other states listed as being in short supply (according to the news), and are also being penalized if they administer the vaccine outside their states guidelines are MI, OH, OR, AZ, FL, Washington DC, MA, NM, and WI.

You CAN NOT get sick from a flu shot! However, it takes two weeks for the shot to become effective, so you can get sick in between and folks think it has something to do with the shot. Ask any doctor.

I think that for those at risk, the flu shot makes alot of sense as their immune systems need all the help they can get.

I also agree that the media hypes the story to make for more interesting leading stories.

Given the state of physical health/fitness, not to mention dietary habits, of today's average member of society, these "minor viruses hit hard. If you are of older in years, it is scary. The actual flu might not kill you, but there is a real threat of complications doing you in.

I normally get a shot every year. I ain't afraid of it, but I have been laid up for two weeks once. I don't care to go through it again.
