Chick Flics For Men

Every so often I find it prudent to forgo my normal movie fare and revive my bona fides as a sensitive male by watching a chick flic with my wife and possibly one or more of her sisters. Lots of tears but few screams, horse rides through the English countryside instead of car chases through LA, existential as opposed to physical pain, emotionally immature men, etc..

While this has frequently been an exercise in tedium, from time to time I am rewarded by a genuinely pleasant experience, usually because of either incredibly witty writing by the author, extended nude scenes (tastefully done in a way that empowers women, of course) somewhere in the movie, or just a good story.

I believe that it would be great service to the males in the club if we could compile a list of movies that not only make the grade as chick flics but which also offer a little something for the boys. Please give me some suggestions before this Saturday night.

In honor of Christopher Reeve this weekend I will be watching
"Somewhere in Time". This is a truly great chick flick that guys can still relate too since Jane Seymour in her prime was a sight to behold and the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island on the U.P. of Michigan where the film is set is a great vacation destination in itself.

Check it out, it won't let you down.

chick flicks for men. is an oxymoron. it doesn't exist :p

you have your men's movies. and then your womens movies.. they should never mix in my opinion. ;)

I can think of lots of womens movies for women. but none for men.

I actually enjoyed "Love Actually" thought it was pretty entertaining. Kiera Knightly isn't too bad to look at either!

Mulholland Drive?? Women like that one?? I thought it was totally for guys with the totally amazing... eh... scene :)

I just saw Mean Girls this past week too. I know its sorta dirty, but Lindsey Lohan definitely looks good! Funny movie too... Tina Fey is definitely a good comedic writer.

I think women like MUHOLLAND DRIVE because it has one of those "empowering" scripts; you know strong women doing things on their own. As a matter of fact every movie on my original list is a female empowering movie, chicks really go for those.
