Hello...does anyone have any info on the soon to be released Yamaha RXV 2500? They are sold out of the 2400 and the 2500 has yet to arrive. Maybe I should hunt down a 2400 if it's not much of a difference and save some cash.

I am comparing it to a Denon 2805. What's better?

    Thanks.

looks great. now my next question. Sorry if I have repeated myself on another thread.

I have narrowed it down to:

1)Yamaha (2400 or waiting on the 2500) maybe the 1400 or 1500...sold out of all, couldn't hear one here in Victoria.

    2)Denon AVR 2805 ($1000 Canadian)...sounds great

    3) Harman Kardon AVR 635 ($1400 Canadian approx)...sold out as well, didn't hear it but it replaces the 630.

So many opinions, I don't know what to do. Help!!

    Thanks

The 2500 is nice, but if you can get a deal on the 2400, jump on it.

If it were me, I'd scratch the HK of the list. Having owned there products previously, and demoing several current models (inc. the 630), you do better with a different brand. They have finally caught up a little with the features in the 635, and the HK's do great for music, but their dynamics in home theater are way behind the curve.

I would toss another in the mix for you to look at, the Pioneer Elite VSX-52TX. And to compare apples to apples, take a look at the Denon 3805. All great products. I've demoed them all. Good stuff. You'll still come back to the yammy though.

Thanks guys...checked out the Pioneer Elite models. Expensive here in Canada ...56TXI is $1700, before I dicker him down if I chose it. Are these Pioneer Elites as good as the Denon 2805, 3805, or the Yammie 2500? I really feel the yammie is the one at this point. I have read at least 5 reviews saying it is the best bang for the buck...and more. Has everything you want.

I still don't know how to read the power/THD ratings. They are confusing to me. I hear the HK are rated lower but are more powerful.

I like my 2400. I could really use an amp though since I have the RTi12's. Not that I'm really rockin' out in my apartment all that much though. I'll have to see if I can talk my boss into letting me trade in my 2400 for a 2500. I could really use the extra component input.

I will make a new thread on this, but i thought i would ask here too. is buying a demo model ok? All they have left here in BC is demos of the 2400. I can get it for $800 Canadian. or get the Denon 2805 for a grand.
