i think denon is ripping off us Canadians. they want $6000msrp USD for the 5805. i checked the Can. site and they want $8950msrp CAD.
now doing the exchange rate thing, i come up with $7524 CAD that a difference of $1426 CAD. or $1137.16 USD. what's with that? i think i'll be shipping from the U.S. from now on.

"170 watts of high-current power into each of its ten channels."

    Is Denon chasing Yamaha now?
    More later,

Denon chase Yamaha? LOL....Yamaha's best gear is vintage Yamaha IMO. They used to be a staple of high end.

I think it's moreso going where they think the market is, much like Onkyo and Parasound in the high end bracket.

It seems like Denon was chasing Yamaha last year and Yamaha maybe chasing this year. Yamaha took a lot of market share when they put the room eq on their $799 and $999 receivers last year, and then the RXZ9 leapfrogged the other flagship receivers out there. This year Denon came back with at least three component inputs on all their receivers and auto setup on receivers to $399 or $499 I think. The 5805 is going after the custom market with all those channels, but as PW mentioned, it actually might be a boat anchor. I just can't see that many sold.

For 6 grand you could have a stellar 5.1 setup...

Especially since that Denon is designed to give the user the ability to have 2 5.1 systems anyways

Lets see the older B&K reference 2 channel amps are about 650 shipped used in fair condition... and if u get FIVE of them for 10 channels thats like...

    3250

That leaves around 3250 or so for a PREAMP!!!!!!!!!

225 watts x10 with 75 amperes per channel...

And a TOTL preamp from B&K

Totally missing the idea of this??
