I'm looking for a relatively cheap surge suppressor, not a power conditioner. Are these things any good? http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32830&item=5724631539&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Personally I would be more at home with either the $50 or $75 (approx) ones here. Hard to beat their price also. They actually give surge ratings (approximately 3500 joules) and the insurance may actually pay you if your equipment gets damaged.

    edit: I don't believe their 8000 joule rating. :)

How about something from Monster Power for $60.00?

Check out this thread I started at head-fi.org. HCM Audio is now selling the PC1000 surge protector/power conditioner for $80.00, but the link to the PC1000 at Buy.com is still valid. You may find the information in thread useful for this product.

Thanks for the input guys it's appreciated. However I just won a monster hts2000 on ebay for $40. I know I said I didn't want a power conditioner, but for the money I thought I'd risk it. What do you think ?

www.partsexpress.com has a special on Tripp Lite power strips. They look pretty rugged, and if you're in the market for two, seems like a good deal.

Codey - I'd say you got a great deal!

bknauss - They're really selling them (essentially) buy one, get one free? Man, looks like I'm going to get me a few HTPOWERBAR10's... could use one for the computer/dj gear.

Yup, buy one get one free. Its really confusing if you look at the prices when you go to the page for the product... "x" dollars for one, but "x/2" dollars for each if you buy two... why not just restate that its buy one get one free??
