That is weird. I thought they were doing just fine on their own. I wonder if anyone will be able to bid their way to a steal of a deal.

Horrible idea. Now people are going to wait and wait and wait to "try" to find a deal on one from EBay instead of just buying it full price from SVS. Bad move, SVS.

I looked to see how many other subs were being sold by that person from SVS. There were none. His feedback was all positive, but pretty low. I am going to make the assumption that they are just throwing the occaisonal sub on eBay to catch the eyes of those who look no further than eBay. Advertising if you will. Thats my thought. I don't think they are trying to extent their business on the bay.

I think the idea is great...

As **** said...it seems they are just trying to spread their name farther...

If margin goes down, but volume goes up, it's a good move. Still a little shocking though. Polk gets bashed for being in the mass-market chain stores by the boutique folks. And now, SVS is on ebay! LOL

Hey, it's a decent marketing move. Best to have more than a handful of distribution chains, and ebay is an inexpensive, accessible, and respectable one. Just look at the buzz SVS has already created on this forum. They are masterful at exploiting the Internet for marketing purposes. Let's face it -- the subs on ebay ain't gonna sell for much less than they go for on SVS' website. No loss for them.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I was watching the price. Almost up to the regular cost.
