I know this is an old can of worms to open, but seems to answer the question here...

If you note the HK 330 measured out at 66 wpc (yours should be similar) and a 100 wpc Sony at 31 wpc...

Neither AVR would be considered high current, few are... (exceptions include Sunfire and a few others).

Where does high current start? No set guideline... just opinions... mine is in the 40 amperes peak to peak neighborhood. There are amps capable of 70, 80 even 100 amperes...

oh no, not the damn chart again. there are way too many variables in receivers for that chart to be accurate. according to that chart kenwood receivers ranked better then NAD receivers. thats a joke

Airplay - I feel your pain. I cring when I see that ridiculous chart.

TypeO - I think your HK would fare just fine against the Sony, if not a bit warmer on presentation and performance.

    You're welcome...

Yup, can o' worms, but the chart has a use. In this case it reinforced typo's information about HK's conservative approach to rating their amps.

As Airplay implies, it can not be used to say one AVR is better than another.

typonegative911, Home Theater Mag tested the HK 325 @ 90.4 watts w/2 channel driven & 73.8 w/5 channel driven simultaneously. Here's a link to the review:

I'm not sure if the link works, but it's a nice review.
