Agency Refers Complaints Against Best Buy to Attorney General
(NBC 15)--After a series of complaints against Wisconsin Best Buy stores, state consumer protection officials want the attorney general to get involved.
False advertising, unauthorized credit card charges, and repackaging of used products are some of the allegations filed against the company.
Consumer protection claims the common thread in the complaints is a lack of good customer service.
After continued contact with best buy, consumer protection officials feel that the store is not getting the message. We've had 89 complaints about best buy over the past two years. That means we've talked to best buy in all or almost all of those 89 instances and the problem continues to exist, so it appears to us that something more is needed," says Janet Jenkins with Trade and Consumer Protection.
The consumer protection department's investigation is being forwarded to prosecutors for possible enforcement action.
Best Buy has released a statement saying: Because Best Buy values its customer relationships, we do our best to resolve customer issues in an amicable way. Therefore, we are surprised that the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is making these statements and we deny any wrong doing.
Anyone a little suprised by this? I've had some bad experiences with Best Buy, but it used to be my favorite DVD, CD, Electronic store. I've been sticking with CC lately and I get all of my music at the Exlusive Co, and Atomic Records.

I heard a few months back that BB was under investigation for failing to honor rebate offers that consumers sent in.
Personally, I got every rebate I ever sent in, whether it was a BB rebate, other store or manufacturer rebate. When I purchased my laptop from BB a few months back, a bunch of people swore I would never see any checks come in, but I got every one of them. I always get my rebate checks sent to me. Never failed to get a single one back.
I have no idea what these people are or are not doing, but maybe they need to read the damn directions when filling the rebate offer out. There are specific things you have to send and things you have to fill out.
By the way, my laptop came with $420.00 in BB rebates and another $30.00 in other manufacturer offers. Just got the last one on Thursday and within the stated time frame on the offer.
A note, I'm not condoning what BB did in these other matters. BB = BAD BUSINESS and not Best Buy.

I can't believe anyone is surprised by this. While the specifics of the suit may be a little different than what I would have expected, Best Buy is NOTIRIOUSLY a terrible company to deal with. While their prices are usually relatively low, their business practices and customer service always leave something to be desired.
There are numerous websites out there with litearlly hundreds if not thousands of stories from people who have had just terrible experiences with Best Buy, so much so that you think it is corporate policy to piss off as many customers as possible. It's standard for any large corporation to have numerous complaints, but I think the extent of Best Buy's bad record speaks for itself.
So basically I hope these guys win.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
I was suprised byt this particular stuff, honestly.

I've never had a problem with BB, and this suit makes no difference to me. If I have a problem, it gets taken care of, done.
I wish them luck, in that they are simply doing what is their right as a consumer.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Any store is only as good as what you use it for. All I've bought from BB is my DVD's and my laptops. I haven't ever had a problem other than one time their system didnt' issue a rebate and after pursuing that with management, they just credited my CC back with the money and apologized.comment comment comment comment. bitchy.
