I am going to hook up my DVD player to the receiver with a digital cable. Does anyone have a recommendation on which type/brand to use ? Is there a difference between coax and fiber optic. Also, what type of cable would you recommend to connect my sub to the receiver (about a 25 foot run).

i prefer coaxial over optical. they just seem to hold up better IMO. I've never really noticed a difference between the two, just that coaxial 'feels' like a better connection, and it seems to be more durable...

monster cable makes some good thx certified subwoofer cable. i use that, and would also recommend it!

Audio quality wise, it doesn't matter which type or which brand of digital cable you use, they will all work without loss unless they have some fatal flaw.
Now reliability wise, the coax type is probably more durable, not counting less expensive than optical. Your choice.
