Sounds cool. Make sure you visit those high end audio shops like the ones Danny Tse posted months ago. Man, if I went there, I'd be in the restaurants all night long:).
Enjoy your trip

Lucky dog.......take plenty of pics, hit the hifi shops and be safe.Political Correctness'.........defined

Salt water cultured pearls are an amazing bargain in China. My cousin is an oil company attorney and travels there frequently on business. She picked up a 3-piece black pearl set for me on her last visit that I gave my wife for an anniversary gift. We had them appraised for insurance coverage yesterday (always a bit high IMO), and replacement value is $2750. My cost was $450. Needless to say, I'm very pleased and my wife loves them.
Have a great time! That's one of our dream destinations.

What kind of deals can you get in China on audio gear? Can you hook a polkie up with a couple of Krell amps? Let me know if you need some extra spending money.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Just Shanghai?
There's a vinyl record "fever" happening in China. Apparently, a lot of vinyl gets "dumped" into the Chinese market, so you may be able to get some good deals.
Keep your eyes out for hard to find CDs/SACDs....like the new Mark Knopfler album on SACD. You will have to do research on which artist released what album on which label so that you don't get taken by counterfeit stuff. Pirated CDs are "the norm" in China and they are very well-made. If you are careful, you can pick out the real ones from the fake one. The buzz word on CDs there is "HDCD"....everything is HDCD-encoded. The "DSD" label is starting to appear now. Yes, the Beatles "2" CD is a fake.
Don't expect huge discounts on western brand audio components/speakers....remember, you have to ship these things back. However, you may pick up some good deals on locally produced tube amps/headphone amps, CD players, etc.... but you should take into consideration any warranty issues. This was the impression I get when I visited Guangzhou this past June. The B&W/Marantz setup was "roped off" from ordinary folks at the local audio emporium there. -
you can get high end watches for next to nothing. rolex , tag, patek phillip....
