subwoofer linelevel inputs

I just hooked up my new RT1000i 's and I'm very very pleased with them. They are hooked to a Harmon Kardon 3470 stereo receiver which also pleases me. My question is this. The receiver has two subwoofer line outs (left and right). And, the RT1000i 's have subwoofer linelevel connections. The receiver says that the sub-outs are for use with powered subwoofers. Is there anything to be gained by connecting the sub-outs to the subwoofer linelevel inputs rather than a straight connection (option 1 in the speaker manual)?

Option 1 is your friend; those speakers were built for sub integration and are optimized for it. But if you feel adventurous, you can try the line-level input. It will give you more options to tweak your bass but it might not give the best results. Try both; some like it with option 1, as Polk recommends. Others like it best with the line-in.
I personally prefer the Polk recommended way after experimenting a lot last week. Much better for my music listening.
