Please don't shoot me for asking about these. I was just curious to see if anyone knows anything about them. I am needing cheap rear speakers and was wondering if these would work.

I have been watching the forum and ebay for Polks around this price range, but everyone else wants them too.

For that price you don't have much to lose.

I have a pair of HK speakers that came with the HK seperates/bookshelf system and they're great little speakers. you don't have much to lose, especially for what they cost there.....

I'm actually going to use them for rear surround in a 5.1 system. It is kind of mix and match setup(mostly Polks).
Right now I have an older Yamaha RX-V2092 that was given to me, a new set of LSi7's, an RTi6 for center duty(temporary till I can scrounge up enough dough for an LSCi), and a Polk PSW 250. I have a set of Infinity Minuettes right now for rear surround, but I would like a little bigger speakers for DD.
I've been trying to find a set of RT15,25,35 for rear surrounds for cheap, but haven't had much luck yet, so I thought I might give HK's a try. For that price, I might be able to get most of my money back by selling them if I don't like them.

I wouldn't go that loud with them, as they are pretty small speakers, but if the intent is a temp patch to your system, I say $50 isn't enough to worry about (let alone worry about recovering by reselling them if you don't like them).

    Hey there,

I tried some of these a few months back for a small 2 channel rig and they are pretty decent...very similar in sound to the JBL n24 (the drivers look identical, although I'm not sure that they are). They are also surprisingly nicely finished...I would say better than the R10/R15 polks. They are also similar in overall size to the r10/r15, although the bass driver is of course smaller so they don't dig as deep.

Tough to go wrong at this price and the sound is better than you would expect...they don't go real low and you might have to turn the treble down a touch (the tweeter is okay but not real smooth IMO)...but hey...remember what you are paying. And they really do look pretty sharp.

Pick them up, why not. I'm a sucker for bookends.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    F em.

You are a HAIR away from something actually decent. Why waste the forty some odd dollars on a bandaid? If you want to MacGuyver it, hit the thrift store, or go get the Best Buy $19.99 specials of the week.

$40 should be a good 3rd of the way, to a MUCH better choice. God, the speakers I've bought for $120 or less, UNREAL.

    Cheers,

It's $50... why not just put that money towards the center channel that you need, then take the RTi6 (and it's other half) and put THEM in the rear of your setup?

    Toxis,

I had about decided the same thing. It will take a while to save up for the LSiC, but from what I know it will be worth it if I wait.
I am more concerned with my front end anyway.

I might consider the HK's to help a friend start a home theater. I'm sure they would be better than some of the $300 HTIB systems a lot of people get.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Waited it out and ended up with these tonight.

Unless they are completely unrepairable(hopefully not), they should definetly be better than the HK's.

Guess I'll just have to wait a while on the center channel, unless someone wants to buy a very, very lightly used pair of black RTi6's for about $200.

Can't wait till they get here.

I hope it is okay that the smallest and crappiest looking things make me feel like a kid in the candy store.
