pre-outs help

so preouts are an RCA plug but from the out where do the RCAs gte plugged into the second receiver or AMP ??

    yes.. from the back of your receiver. you'll see PRE OUTS for Left, Right, Center, Sub, Right Surround and Left Surround, etc.

    use an RCA interconnect from each one of those outs to the Input of an amp.. then hook up your speakers to the rear of the amp.

    that's it.. you should do fine after that.

    what kind of receiver do you have?

    what kind of amp do you plan to use?

    The left and right channel inputs on the amp. You can't hook up a receiver to a receiver.

    so you can't preout to another receiver...ahhh I see thats what I was trying to uderstand.. I have never seen the back of an amp so I didn't know how it was connected either.

    Not unless the receiver has pre-amp inputs.

    it's making sense now....I saw the back of an amp now but it only has hook-ups for what looks to be speaker cables. where do the pre-outs hook up to ??

    amps don't usually have many in's or out's.. they are pretty simple to use.

    If your receiver doesn't have any preouts (except the sub) is there any way to hook up a amp to it?

    No, not any that give the receiver control of the volume anyway. "Tape out" could be used, but it is a line level output, bypassing all controls.
