I've a budget of $3000 CDN. for a separate Processor. I've done lot of research on both models but don't know which is better. There isn't much info. available for NAD T163 but lot of people love there ROTEL 1068, so I'm leaning towards it.
How many of you own ROTEL processors? and what do you think about the improvement in sound quality compare to my current pre/pro Yamaha RX-V1400 I'm going to notice. Personally I'm very satisfied with my current setup and want to use it for a while. I just need an opinion for my future upgrade.
Do think buying a separate processor is much better than using a receiver as a pre/pro?

You should see if you can take one home for a demo. That way, you'll find out how much of a difference it'll make.SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070
Senn HD650 Cardas, Mapletree Audio Ear+ HD2, Kimber KS1030, Bel Canto DAC2, M-Audio Transit, Laptop. -
I think the general consensus here is that separates are better, even better than very expensive receivers (like Denon).
I can't speak to the Rotel vs. NAD debate, as I don't have either one, but I know I saw a couple of threads on another forum where s/o was having some problems w/ the Rotel unit. Can't remember what the problem was, something w/ bass management I think. I believe the NAD unit has global bass managment, so if you like individualized managment per channel, NAD may not be for you.
I've read superb reviews of the Parasound Halo processor, but that is way out of your price range.
There's a lot of good reviews for the B&K Ref 50 as well.
Good luck in your search.Current System:

Since you are in Canada, look at the Anthem AVM30. You might be able to get this in your price range.
