Second one I have received. The first was from Citizens Bank...

Funny since I have accounts with neither...

Both have been forwarded to the FBI...

Yep, getting them as well. Fortunately the Earthlink spam filter catches them for me. They're all garbage.

Yup, that one has actually been around for quite awhile, it's rather clever and very well designed, unfortunatly. All we can do is report these things as spam and hope it goes away... ha...

Most of the major banks CitiBank, Chase, Wells Fargo, BofA, SunTrust, Wachovia, etc...are having their logos used in this scam. The Feds and the banks are working on this one and it has been around for several weeks.

For those that don't know...No legit bank or financial institution will ever ask you for that type of information unless you are conducting a transaction of some sort. If you get asked to provide personal information in this manner....IT IS A SCAM! Unfortunately I am aware of several people who have fallen for this. Of course they give out their inforrmation and THEN call to ask if they did the right thing...

Bottom line is, never, I mean NEVER click on a link in an email like this.

Open a browser window, and go directly to the main site to conduct your business.

Have to amend my initial post from "Have been forwarded to the FBI" to "tried to forward to the FBI".

Wrote the original statement in anticipation of sending them on, but when I got to the FBI's Internet Scam section, they were only interested in me reporting if I had lost money in the scam...

Must be a change because I did report a similar e-amil scam to them last year. Maybe the volume is too great to to address potential or suspect scams. Would not surprise me if it was...

Tour - Just forward them to the banks that were shown on the scam mail. A short cover that you know they are a scam and that you just want to alert them should suffice. They may be able to use them. You should be able to get an email address on their web sites.
