Been looking at pre-amps to potentially upgrade my Parasound PH/P 850. Ran across the Parasound PLD-1100. Says it's a "line drive" amplifier. What does that mean?
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

"God grooves with tubes."

    It means...

When you turn it on, it delivers a knock out punch

    Honestly dunno....

It means that it takes line level inputs (CD, tape decks and tuners)which I believe is 150 mv minimum input. That means that it won't work with a turntable because a phono cartridge only puts out ~ 6 mv or less. The Parasound P/HP has a phono preamp built-in and the PL-1100 doesn't. That's the difference besides the remote on the PL1100.
