What makes a good cd player?Im using your runofthemeel 6 disk cd player,I have a really good 2 channel receiver (denon dra685) I oppted for more power,so I purchased a carver 2 channel amp,the denon is now basically a preamp,so my system is on its way up,it will always remain 2 channel too,its all about the music in my house...and it does sound great on a movie too.Im thinking of a better cd player no,doesnt have to play dvd's,I just want better musicis 16,or 20 bit better?I know denon use to make some nice cd players...dcd 2700,3000,3300,I would love to buy a denon for remote purposes, but its not a must, now I cant afford a $2000 player mind you,I will buy used, ebay or agon,or preferably club polk,I need some input...advice!

Check out Rotel CD players. Someone might have an older one here in the Flea Market they are looking to get rid of. Otherwise, check out the Rotel RCD 1072. I have the RCD 855, Going to upgrade to the 1072 when I have a chance.

Here is a review for you to check out on it.

Denon just makes CD only changers at this time, the DCM-280 ($199 MSRP) and DCM-380 ($299 MSRP). I happen to like Sony SACD changers and will probably buy one of the new SCD C2000ES for less than $300. There are lots of very nice CDPs in the $500 ± range. Check out the NAD C521BEE, NAD C542, Cambridge Audio Azur series (340C, 540C, 640C) and Music Hall MMF CD-25. There are several more choices as you get in the $1,000 plus range from the likes of Rega, Audio Refinement, Simaudio, AH!tjoeb, Creek, Arcam, Shanling to name a few.

If you want to spend in the $700 - $1000 range Id reccomend tha Ah Njoe Tjoeb cdp. I have one & its a great player! If you have the funds purchase the upsampler at the same time! This player is only 2ch with a tube output stage. Im very very happy with the player! If you want a great player but dont want to spend alot look for a moded Toshiba 3950 or a 3960, or mod one your self. I use a moded 3950 in our store on our demo system. There are many other good cdp's out there! www.upscaleaudio.com for info on the tjoeb player.
