You mean an inner tube from a bicycle.
There was actually a discussion on diyaudio.com a while ago about making a diy sub driver with comparable excursion to the parthenon (12 in peak to peak). One of the proposed designs actually called for an inner tube as the surround.Graham -

That's right lad. My Tempest can displace about 2.5 L of air. A top of the line Parthenon can do 450 L.Graham
