punctuation always helps just kidding welcome to the forum :p

If your room is big enough and you can position the 7 speakers relative to the listening spot correctly, then by all means go with 7 speakers.

    Welcome to the forum.

"Normal" listening room is pretty vague. I have one rig in a 10x10 (with 8' ceilings) and one rig in a 15x18 (with 12' ceilings). The seating is also different. In the smaller room, my seat is pretty close to the back wall; whereas, in the larger room I sit on about midway for action movies and against the back wall for snuggly movies.

Then again, I just gave away my DD/DTS receiver so don't listen to me.
