dynamic range compression, what is it and where to most peeps set the receiver at :
Max for movies
norm for regular use
or the other for light listening
mine is on norm but I had no idea what it does and how it works

Max will have the biggest differences in volume. So when the two people are talking and then a bomb goes off, the bomb is very loud in comparison. The max setting allows for a difference of about 30db.
The normal setting has about a 10db range, and mininum about 3db. So minimum is good if people are sleeping or trying to talk over the show or if those stupid loud commercials come on.
Normal is good if you find yourself turning the voume up to hear people talk and turning it down when the gunfights start. J -
looks like I will leave it at norm thanks....my waife always tells me to turn it down when guns or explosions are going off...answers that for me !!!
