Ive replaced now the stock power cords on my tosh 3960 and yesterday on my fisher tuner, as i move into more pricey gear i want a good cutting tool to use for like my pre, amp and maybe some day the dynaco... i have a dremel tool ... what blades should i use? The thin carbon wheels always burn away before doing much cutting, any idea's or suggestions.... Ive always been into making things and projects and this really interests me.. so i want the right tools for the job for a clean look. so far ive just made due,

Dremel makes a carbide tip or maybe several by this time that will remove quite a bit of metal and they don't wear out. You have to be careful as they will load up if you use them on softer metal such as aluminum. You can also get a die-grinder which is a grown up dremel tool. Small hole saws can also work well with an electric drill if you are careful. A special bit made of carbide is available for die-grinders (1/4 inch shank) with very open flutes fro use on soft metal.
    Good luck, Phil

Here are two articles that describe exactly what you are doing. The first article has a picture & description of the tool the author used to cut away the metal when he added and IEC receptacle for a power cord upgrade.

Have you check the computer case mod sites? They talk about this stuff a lot. I haven't really paid much attention to them as I haven't got the bug yet. ;)

    Good luck
