Help, i've "overloaded"!

I have my Polk 7200's hooked to my Pioneer receiver. Those are fine, but my sub apparently causes an overload, it says this on the receiver and shuts off. I have it hooked like Polk suggests with the fronts hooked to the back of the sub. have the sub set to off and the fronts at large. But when i watch an intense sounding movie like LOTR or Term 3 the receiver says "overload" and shuts off. What's going on?

I would think that you are driving them too hard and the reciever is shutting down to stop any damage to the componets. Try conecting the speakers directly to the reciever and the sub to the reciever with a sub cable, set all speakers to small (which is where they should be) and sub to on, crossover on reciever to 80-100. Calibrate all speakers with an AVIA disc and spl meter.
