RM7200 SubWoofer problem..PLEASE HELP!

I followed the installation instructions on how to install the subwoofer, using the front left and right speaker wire terminals on my receiver instead of the subwoofer cable, and I have not been able to get any sound at all from my sub. I then tried hooking it up using the sub cable and still no sound at all. Am I doing something wrong? I followed all the instructions but I think I might be missing something down the line somewhere. Can someone please help? Thanks in advance.

    Is the sub plugged in, turned on, and with the green light glowing?

    If you run the speaker terminals to speakers instead of the sub, are you getting sound?

    Yes the speaker is connected, the green light is on and i get no sound at all. My receiver has a test tone and when i tried it, i got sound from every speaker except the sub. I tried connecting it both ways, with speaker wires and with the subwoofer preout. No sound either way.

    Is the gain or volume turned up on the sub? if running through the speaker wires set the front to large and sub to no all other speakers to small. If running the sub out put all speakers to small and sub to yes XO to 80.

    well, I tried everything and still can't get any sound from this. Maybe it just doesn't work. I'm gonna take it back and have them check it out. I hope I'm just not a dumbass and don't know how to plug the darn thing in. Any more suggestions? I now have it plugged in through the subpreout on my receiver, which by the way is a Sony STR-De897. Thanks for the help fellas, I really appreciate it.

    When it is hooked up with speaker wire, (wire from reciever, to sub, to fronts) you want to set your receiver to "fronts = large" and "sub = none".

    If you connect it to your LFE port (using a sub cable) - set your receiver to "fronts = small" and "sub = yes".

    It sounds like you may have your AVR set to "sub = none" and "fronts = small". (killing all bass output)

    Also just to test, turn the knob for the sub crossover all the way to the right (will point at 150 or there abouts) and turn the volume knob straight up (1/2 way point).

    Yup...i set the front speakers to small and the bass to on with the subpreout hook up on. still no sound at all. I think the darn thing just doesnt work. thanks for everything though guys...im taking back and having them test it...i really hope its broke...

    You never really answered this question. This will tell us if the AVR is the culprit - at least for the high level connections.

    Also, check for a blown fuse in the sub plate amp.

    no sound from either connection...I didn't check the fuse...I didn't even know it had one...i'll check later this am and get back to you...

    If your regular Left/Right main speakers don't play when you connect the speaker wire to them (not the sub), you've got bigger problems than a broken sub.

    I think Leo ment that he connected the sub using the speaker wire and the LFE and still the sub does nothing. If fuse was blown would the light still come on?

    What are you trying to listen to when you are playing the system (DVD, CD, stereo). If you are listening to a DVD or CD you might want to check the players settings and how do you have them connected?

    well, so far I've played a few games, a couple of dvds, and one cd. I'm using my my playstation 2 and xbox, which are both capable or surround sound.

    I would think that if none of the above has worked and you reciently bought the speaker system call where you bought it and exchange the sub for another or give polk a call and see what they say.
