Hey guys, I just heard of a brand name of Lutron, apparently it is more reliable than X-10, anybody own any of their products? If so, is it any good? What's the price range? Is it easy to install?

Sorry I have so many questions, well shoot away!

Tks dave:D

I actually talked with some representatives from their company regarding employment. One of my friends interned there as well. From what I've seen, they seem like a very impressive company that's on the [expansion] move. From one of their company presentations they've recently targeted the home theater market for their products. I believe the Radio Rah system is their hot product. Anyway, that's about the only useless insight I can provide.

All i know is that my old Kenwood VR-2080 (5 years old) could control the lutron light system. Very effective

    I am actually a Lutron homeworks installer/retailer.

What do you want to know about it?
Price ranges anywhere from a 10$ dimmer to a 100k$ in homeworks depending on number of circuits, panels ect.

Lutron has a few types of lighting control, dependin on what you wanna do, homeworks (by far the most advanced) which can do nearly anything, but all dimmers are hardwired, or lights are home run to RPMs'(remote power managers), teh 2nd type is the Radio Ra, which is two way lighting control and is a great add on for prexisting structures that can't be retrofited with homeworks.

Lastly there is spacer, which relies on IR but really is used for a per room basis. Much like the grafik eyes, which are typically used in home theaters.

Let me know what you are wanting to do with it and I might be able to suggest something to fit your needs. Just bear in mind x10 is a cheap un reliable way to do remote lighting control, and lutron is a reliable, works everytime kinda deal so be prepared to spend the extra money...

I also own and install Lutron dimmer switches for HT's. Very easy to install and will work off most learning ir remotes. No problems at all. Will dim, brighten up to specific settings, 10 second slow dim-- stuff like that. Works awesome with the new Onkyo remotes. The 10x was way to much of a hassle for me.

U guys are the best, first i ask u about riser seats then subs now this! And I've got answers for all the questions, thank you so much for your help, u guys are really great. *ahem* enuf wit the praise before i start cryin newayz currently I have 3 pairs of fluorescent lights, each with its own switch. Now this is a basement with drop down ceilings so mods should be quite easy.

Now I just want my RMV-2100 to control the lights ( to shut em off wit one button), now how do i go about that? I'm willing to put all three on the same circuit and then - when the budget permits- add a second scene of yellow can lights for the ht to turn on and dim after the fluorescents go off. Now as far as I have read someone suggested the spacer which seems good for the simple tasks at hand.

So my question is how many dimmers, or switches, do i need? Or what kits? And wat's the price on the equipement that you suggest. And after all I trust you all and appreciate as usual all opinions. Pix will take a few weeks before they come on because I finally built the riser and got the sub after your suggestions. Newayz peace out and tks!

How many circuits do you currently have?

They make several versions of the grafik eyes, up to 6 zones(switch legs)

U could possibly do spacer, but i would recommend the grafik eye. get back to me with the number of switch legs in your box, and i'll get you a price, also get me your location and i can get you teh local dealers info for you...

Speaking of riser seats, berkline is now in the home theater seating, and is a HELL of a deal. In fact you can't nearly buy regular leather seating for the price of this stuff, and its QUALITY. Finally an affordable seating company! =)

Dave, the most popular model is what they call the Spacer it comes with the remote. Model#SP-600 which is the dimmer with infrared receiver---- The remote is #SP-HT
    40watt min.
    600watt max.
If you use low watt track lighting 1 switch can be used to light up an entire room easy.

hey brandon, thanks for the help but jus went to home depot today and the spacer was cheap and good, the downside is that it is not for fluorescent lights. Now I was told by the guy that it couldn't control these lights. so do u know any other systems that can jus shut off or turn on the fluorescent lights with a remote that won't cost me a fortune to set up, via an ir remote?

I will buy the spacer system once I get the track lights or lighting cans up in the ceiling on a separate switch.

I currently have a pair of fluorescent lights assigned to a rocker switch. There are 3. One rocker switch for each pair of lights. Now I will reconnect all 3 to a switch and another switch for the future track lights and what not.

    Thanks again guys.

Also forgot is there any other company that offers on and off via remote, because I don't need dimming functions at all except for the one set of can/track lights.

Out of the subject people here are complaining about Russia's performance at the Olympics and sayin how Canada should've got gold and all but personally I didn't see the figure skating part anybody agree/disagree? Well let me hear ya:)
