Some pictures.

Here is the rear of the Jeep with the back seat flipped up and the amps mounted on the bottom. The black plastic masses to the left and right are the sub enclosures. They are beefier than they look.

A shot of the front of the QuadPod. You can clearly see where the sub is mounted and where the 6.5 inch pod extends to. The front pod pops out just infront of the rear seat when it is down. The pods are seperated so it is not a common enclosure. To fill the .2 cubic feet of extra space in the sub enclosure, we used expanding foam to fill in the top of the enclosure. It seems to have worked well. We'll know better when the speaker grilles come in.

Here is a clear shot of the power ditribution. It looks sloppy with all the extra length but the installation required play in the wires to allow the seat to move up and out of the way without damaging the installation or stressing wires.

Here is the left side 5.25 inch speaker in the rollbar pod. The crossover is actually stuffed down, inside the pod, to the left, closest to the rollbar upright. The passenger side is the same way but the pod extends to the right, rather than the left. It made for a clean install. The grilles will most likely be removed and painted black because they just stick out like a sore thumb with an all black interior.

Here is a view of the snazzy head unit from the back seat. The guy in the picture is the owner. The spot where the camera is taking the picture from is about 6 inches behind where the sound stage seems focused. I'm hoping I can push it forward by moving the tweeters in the 5.25 inch speakers. Otherwise, it is impossible to locate the sound coming from any speaker.

Here are shots of ths 4x6's up front. The MDF panels are actually bottom mounted to the original speaker brackets and then the new speakers are top mounted to the MDF plate. The connections are soldered on because butt connectors were getting ripped off when we were trying to stuff the speakers in the slots. Got 'em in though and it seems that the speakers we thought would be easiest were a total **** and a half to get in there!

Here is a view of the Hifonics amps withe the Zues amp lit up. Yes, it is really is that bright. When the seat is down, the whole floor looks like it is glowing! It's pretty cool!

Here is a shot of the amp lit up using the flash. You can see the Hifonics lit up clearly so you can see that it is clear plastic with a silver mirror behind it to give it that chrome look when the light is off.

Overall, it took alot of effort and while the wire management isn't the best, you can clearly see the constraints we had to work with. I was pleased that by a sheer stroke of luck, all the wires matches colors which added to the snazzy-ness of the install. I wish they had the 4 channel Nemesis in stock though because matching amps would have looked way better. I will have to get pictures of the amps when the seat is down. It is impossible to see them except for about 1/4 of an inch of the Nemesis peaking out the back and part of the blue power wire peaking out of the front.

All the speaker wires and such hid well with little intrusion into the useful areas of the passenger compartment. The enclosures do take up some space but as you can see, there is still over 75% of the useable space left when the seat is up. When it is down, well, there wasn't much space to begin with so the loss is minimal, really.

When I get a chance, I will get better shots of the 2 inch pipe spacers for the seats and the view of teh gear when the seat is down. When the grilles come in, we will have to pull the subs again and I will take pictures of the foam inside the enclosures then too. We may end up having to redo the foam on the passenger side enclosure though. We'll see.

But that is it. Not my greatest install job but it certainly was a challenging one! It sounds damn good too!

Oh! I almost forgot!

The amps were mounted to a 3/4 inch plywood board that was cut out to the shape of the seat's lower frame. It was then screwed into the frame to mount it. We then zippered the seat's bottom carpet back up over the frame and mounting board. The amps and other accessories mounted on the board were mounted through the seat cover so that we did not have to cut it in any way except to punch a few screw holes through it.

Dont sweat the wires too much. Like you said, you didnt have a whole lot of room to work with. Im sure you couldve figured out a way to hide all the wires and everything but you wouldnt have retained near the amount of usable space if you did.

Excellent job.

It aint the fanciest but when youve got practical concerns like actually using the Jeep on a daily basis, I dont think you couldve done much better.

Back by popular demand, this one is old and currently no longer in existence because the Jeep was leased and returned. The stereo was stripped out too, the owner says he still has it all. Now he has a VW Golf...*ahem*...I mean Rabbit GTi.



I got a bunch of PM's about this thread. Apparently people want to see this install. I didn't think it was all that impressive just that we were able to cram so much into a Jeep! The wiring isn't all that great and kinda messy but everything needed slack. The one thing I was pretty proud of was the creative mounting for the 4x6's! That took some thinking and more difficult than one would think. Overall that stereo sounded flat out awesome and if you turned it up on the highway with the top down, even the guy in the lane next to you could hear it.

I loved this install. It aint anything you could win a car show with but it looks good and clean, sounds good and keeps the Jeep's interior usable. Everything a "real world" install should be.

Wow, pretty awesome, clean looking install!

Now, that volume level you testified to is what I want! I don't want to sit at a stop light and annoy the traffic and blow my ear drums out, but I DO want to be able to rock out to it going down the highway with the windows down. Unfortunately, my system won't go that loud, and I'm not entirely sure why.

Is it because of the steel dash and the 5.25's wedged behind it?

They're 4x6s as well, but you either have to take the dash out, or try to unscrew them from behind...and theres no room behind there. And of course, your typical 4x6 doesnt fit in the factory housing.

TJ's are great with their removable plastic piece. Sucks that the plates dont work, but at least you don't have to do it from behind the dash!

That looks pretty nice! How do you like the Hifonics amps?... other than the ample supply of power . I might have read over it, but what size are your subs? Its kinda hard to tell, but if I guessed I'd say they're 10's.

Subs are MM2084DVC. I usually rave about the Hifonics amps. These are no different.
