HD-DVDs are still about 4-5 years off. There is a format wars over here in the states on how to produce HD-DVDs. In the mean time, some of the companies are bringing out D-VHS which is digital VHS. HD content can then be recorded on these tapes. Major studies are in the works (like FOX) to bring out pre-recorded HD VHS tapes.

My .02 is that it is a waste of money.

    www.thedigitalbits.com has more on it.

Why is anyone going to use D-VHS to record HD signals? If you have an HD TV, chances are you aren't messing around with tape format, rather you're strictly pro-scan DVDs and using some sort of Hard Disk Recorder for television.

The question I have is has anyone used those superbit DVD's yet?

I have the Crouching Tiger and Dracula superbits. They add DTS and there is a 10 to 20% improvement in the picture quality. If you are useing a progressive scan equip. it is more noticeable. I sold the CT because it had subtitles only. But the picture improvement isn't near enough to change the DVD industry.2cents
