PSW 550 Sub hookup

Hello, just bought a RM7200 system for $499! I notice that Polk recommends using speaker wire from the fronts to the sub, bypassing the typical sub or LFE jacks. I plan on doing this when i get my receiver (pioneer VSX-D814) and was wondering what is really happening here as opposed to using the sub out with a high quality cable? I'm new to Polks, and i know it has to do with filtering clashes but soundwise it there a noticable difference? 90% of the usage will be for home theater.

I have the same system and have the only the subwoofer cable going to the sub. sounds great/no problems
