Monster Cable XP

Do you use it?

I am considering getting 100 feet or so to hook up my system. I am considering it because it is white and paintable. I will be hooking into RM6200's. Has anyone noticed a definitive difference in audio quality and signal transfer with the XP as compared to the Original Monster Cable?

Thanks.

    Is that the flat cable?
I've heard that it has the same characteristics of regular cable.
Definitely lower profile, have some on my surrounds, sounds fine.

Home Depot -12 gauge wire .25 cents/foot, then stop by the paint department and buy some paint that matches your room. Beats Monster's price any day of the week.

If you want some good cable that will beat Monster hands down (and that wont cost you a million bucks), check out IXOS. They are a British manufacturer that just recently entered the US market. Their Gamma 6003 cable is superior to everything else in its price range (and even some costing much more).

It's a dual conductor perimeter-style design (similar to Kimber's braided design, only Kimber uses three conductors).

It costs about $1.50 per foot and will destroy the Home Depot lamp cord cables sonically.

I've been running IXOS speaker cable for a while and then graduated to their Ixotica interconnects which are a sonic marvel if you want to spend $1000. Oy!

You can pick up IXOS cables at: http://www.ac4l.com/

Who said anything about lamp cord, my 12 ga cable is quite sufficient for my speakers.

It's called lamp cord because it resembles lamp cord. :)

Seriously, that parallel design is very poor. It suffers from virtually non-existant noise rejection. It's like hooking a great big antenna to your speaker.

Of course, this doesn't entirely matter that much, since your speakers are receiving a great deal of power... much more power than your interconnects do. I would never, ever use this design for analog interconnects. You're just asking for trouble.

I use the IXOS speaker cable and im' pretty happy with it.. nice alternative to what lots of others use... ie mostercable..

the subwoofer cable is about 30ft long and i think it only costs about $70 - $80 if I remember right. maybe more now with inflation.
subwoofer interconnect is twisted pair, mono interconnect, PF-OFC conductors, AL-mylar, shielded with gold connectors and arrows to show you which way the cable is suppose to be hooked up.. meaning it is suppose to be used in the correct direction from receiver to subwoofer.

for long cable runs I use Liberty High Definition 14 awg OFC speaker cable.. on the surrounds..

    Ugh!

That's a shame. I am sure it's just a technical glitch in their site since it was up last week. :(

AC4L is a good business. Their on-line ordering is a bit wacky, but they are straight shooters when it comes to their business and their orders ship very quickly.

I've bought from them several times.
