Looking into LSi7

Now that I'm a few months into building my HT, I've started using it more and more for music as well. I've come to find my RTi6's just aren't cutting it, as I feel I'm just listening to a recording, while I've heard the LSi7's bring the artist to your living room.

I don't have the room for a 2 channel rig in addition to the HT, so I pretty much need it all to blend. Does anyone run LSi7's with a CSi5 and find them to go together well in HT, or is it quite necissary to accompany these with an LSiC? I can feel my wallet bleeding, but damned if I don't want the best sounding DSOTM I can get.

Also, I'm aware my AVR won't drive these, incase anyone was going to bring that up ;)

The 7's will certainly sound better than the RTi6's for music, although if you run them off your receiver, they won't be playing to their fullest potential (sorry, had to bring it up because that's the main issue).

I suggest that you not pursue the 7's unless you plan to get the LsiC at some point so you can have a timbre matched front stage. Again, you may be straining your receiver with these 4 ohm speakers, especially if you play at loud volumes. You're also gonna need decent power for those 7's, so a separate amp should be included in your plans.

Sorry, tried to make it clear :) I have no intention of even trying to run a 4 ohm speaker off my H/K, it gets hot enough with my current set up. As you saw from my post in Electronics I'm looking into amps.

Here I was just wondering if anyone was running LSi7 with CSi5 - or rather is the LSiC better than the CSi5 for dialogue? Just haven't seen any extensive reviews of the LSiC.

why not just use LSi7's as a dedicated 2 channel? then you do not need to worry about timbre match. Just switch spekaers between movie and music:)

    just a thought...

The Lsi7's will probably work fine with your current center channel, but it won't be optimal. If you must make compromises, it depends on what you want. Do you listen to music more than you watch movies? If so, get the 7's.

Nevertheless, I agree with helloftheworld -- if you're gonna get a separate amp for the 7's anyways, you might as well get a pre-amp (or integrated amp) and a source, and viola!, you've got a 2-channel system. I know you mentioned not having enough room for a 2-channel system. Can you set it up in another room? It's difficult to get the best of both worlds on a small budget. 'Cause once you get hold of them 7's, you'll be playing in a different league.

I'm renting a room in a house, and my room wouldn't be large enough to handle the space I've heard the LSi need to sound their best. Don't think my roommates would be too happy with 2 sets of speakers in the living room either.

Since I have a CSi3 right now and was planning to get the CSi5, I suppose it would be easiest to just save up a little more and get a LSiC. I guess even if I didn't notice the mismatched tweeters It'd still drive me nuts thinking about it. Thanks for the advice so far.

I drive my 4 lsi7 with my hk330 and it handles the lsi7 better than my yamaha rxv530 did. The lsi7 sound very good with the 330, I can only imagine what separates would do.

While the LSiC would be optimal, the LSi7 seems to blend very well across the front stage with my CS400i. All three are running off M-200 monoblocks and are properly calibrated (the LSi7 is less efficient than the CS400i). I'm pretty picky and the front stage for HT is almost seamless and very acceptable.
