am i the only one furious about this whole Paul Hamm all around gymnastics gold medal fiasco. the FIG is rippin this poor kid's friggin heart out!
i'm forced to watch gymnastics since my wife is a huge fan of it whenever the olympics are on TV. normally i dont care, but i enjoyed watching Paul come back from 12th place to take the gold. some at the time said it was one of the greatest sports come from behind victory ever. and now this.

the above link is the latest in the 3 day saga.
results of a contest are supposed to change after someone notices an error 3 days later?
imagine football game results being reversed by instant replay 3 days later (oh, sorry Patriots, but the instant replay shows someone offside in the third quarter, therefore, we would like the Lombardi trophy back) you have to be KIDDING ME!
fpr anyone who doesnt care, sorry about the rant

thats so much BS
the olympics messed up...so theyre going to try and turn it around on Hamm and make it look like hes the bad guy b/c he didnt return the gold
f that...id keep it...its not my fault they screwed up
refs in football games make mistakes all the time that could cause drastic results
screw that...
keep the gold...the olympics are trying to make him look like a dick but he deserves it...no one else could have possibly came from 12th to 1st...or 2nd
maybe the guy from S. Korea should let him keep it because he came back and was obviously the better athlete...he just made one mistake

This is pretty irritating how they are pretty much making him feel like he didn't deserve the gold medal.
They screwed up and now he has to pay the penalty. The Koreans dragged their **** and waited to dispute it, so tough luck! They have rules in place for a reason.
JohnNo excuses! -
That's bullsh*t!!! :mad:Political Correctness'.........defined
"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."
President of Club Polk -
If one takes a close look at the Korean's P-Bar routine one will see that he has four resting moves in it i.e. pauses at hand stand ... max allowable is three ... each occurance after that is a mandatory 0.2 deduction ...
The net result of these two judging errors should reduce his score, not increase it. -
Exactly! The story even says so. After reviewing his routine its doubtful he even deserved the bronze much less the gold!
The Olympics suck. Ill stick to the NFL!polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

I don't think the Olympics suck ... However you do get into this sort of stuff more in "sports" that are judged as opposed to where the results are based on score or time etc. a la gymnastics, figure skating etc.
In days gone by during the cold war, the mistakes were more like collusion and even as recently as the previous winter games there was plenty of controversy over the pairs figure skating judging and who was making deals with who prior to the competition or during the current mens individual high bar finals where Alexi Nameov (sp ?) clearly did the best routine and everyone knew it except the judges and it took a class act by the gymnist himself to calm down the crowd. -
I read another story that added
"Dr. Rogge made it very clear that dual golds were not acceptable by the IOC," she said. "Again, it's up to the FIG. He made his principles very clear."
[The 'she' is a spokeswoman for the South Korean Delegation. ]
Although Grandi's letter says, "The true winner of the all-around competition is Yang Tae-young," the FIG president insisted he's not pressuring Hamm.

I wouldn't give it up either.......comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
I watched the High bar and they were WAY over scoring Hamm. The other two guys routines were ground braking and scores were WAY too low.
Thats just what I saw............... -

No hard feelings, but that is irrelevant. Paul Hamm got the score he got. Period. This whole thing is complete bull, Hamm squarely deserved that medal.
