How is that done when I only have one binding post on the receiver, would I run 2 speaker cables, or use a pre-made bi-wire cable ?

You should be careful with your receiver to see if it can drive 4hom load when parallel -

Is it necessary to do so? How wide is your back wall and how far is your seating position from the back wall?HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

the back wall is about 12 ft long the couch is right now against the wall I was thinking of pulling the couch out a tadd and lying the rear ceter on it's back like my rears are but I may go with just one rear

if you lie the speaker on its back, is there going to be any probelm? I mean what about the port on the back of the speaker? I have a CSi30 and intend to use as a rear center but can't find a place to put it. If I lie the CSi30 on its back, the port will be blocked.

I guess it depends on where the port(s) are/is..I have R20s the ports are in the front If I use a csi3 port is in the front, and it doesnt damage the speakers .
you could use brackets to support the speaker you don't have to worry about it tipping forward the couch will protect it, the brackets will prevent it from going side to side just be sure the ports are not blocked by the brackets -
12'? Shouldn't be a problem with just one speaker, otherwise wrie them in series and be done with it.
As for sitting it on its port, NO SOUP FOR YOU!There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Consider just sticking with 5.1.
I had a 7.1 setup for about 18 months even though I have my seating position on the back wall. Decided to go back to 5.1 and I don't feel I'm missing anything.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Willow - what reciever do you have? If it is a 6 channel just go with the 1 rear. If you must run two use your preouts and buy a compatable two channel amp. I have ran 6/7 channel HT's and it was one of the best improvements I have made. But having a couch up against a back wall is NOT optimal for 6/7 rigs. Seating position should be half to two thirds the room.
