Some of these other countries are way ahead so to speak as far as human body repairs. One of my Doc's suggested I go to Germany for an advanced back/spine procedure that is not allowed here due to all the red tape rules and regulations. It may be allowed in another 5 years or so......I thought about it but declined. Over here my insurance co. had to pay over 100K and over there for the same or better it would cost me maybe 15,000K.

I wonder if electronics are as cheap...............? :D

I think it's incredible, the possibilties are huge!!! Just think, rejection would me a moot issue for the tissues are "homegrown".

Stem cell technology could be a HUGE breakthrough. I don't see why there is such a fight against it, the possibilities are staggering.

I know!!!Maybe it's a conspiracy... the drug companies don't want it, cause they would lose the rejection drug market.... the doctors don't want it, cause they wouldn't get the return business... the funeral parlors don't want it, cause it would prolong life and business would slow...

THEY'RE ALL IN ON IT!!! I'M LOCKIN' MY DOOR, CLOSIN' THE SHADES AND GETTING MY GUN!!!

runs around house shouting " THEY'RE COMIN MARY ANN!!! GET MY BEER AND STOW IT IN A SAFE PLACE!!!!

I don't think this goes across the line as long as we keep it civil.....Justin will correct us if i'm wrong....

There will ALWAYS be abortions. Some agree with them, some don't.....NO ONE is allowed to determine what someone ELSE does with THEIR body....period.

If that aborted fetus holds potentially life saving cells, and the mother is consentual for those cells to be 'harvested' (hate that word), then that is between the mother and the doctor......religion has zero clout with what that woman is going through. There are laws that prohibit abortions past a certain stage, and that's a good thing IMO, but if within the guidelines, then I think it could be a hugely beneficial thing.

Of course there are different reasons for why some women go through abortions, and each situation warrants it's own review.........but not by a religious group.

I'm not trying to start a debate but i'd like to ask you all 2 rhetorical questions (meaning don't reply just think about them and what they mean to you)

    1. Do you know when a fetus becomes a human life? is it conception? is it birth? is it somewhere inbetween? I know i don't so let me ask you this... would you rather err on the side of caution asuming that it is a 'human life' from conception or err in a way that would cause abortion to be considered murder (taking of another human life)?

    2. If it were the case that 'life' starts at conception why does the mother have more or a right to what typically amounts to convience (with the exception of life endangering situations) than the child does to live?

AGAIN!!!! this is not my trying to start a debate and this needs no reply, i'm not trying to pursuade anyone of anything, these are just two questions that i've wrestled with in forming my own opinion that i think most people should at least take a moment to consider if they want to have a well rounded opinion on this issue

lol.......I know what rhetorical means......(but i'll still answer)......

I'm not debating the right or wrong of abortions. They're going to happen, regardless of what you or I think about them and the people that have them.

    1. I can't recall the specific timeframe that the medical field (not the religious mass) has placed on when a fetus has all it's primary parts required to live (brain, lungs, heart, etc.). I believe that it's after the first trimester, but that could be wrong. My point is if an abortion takes place prior to the complete development of those primary organs, for whatever reasoning, there's no reason I can see (special circumstances being the exception) that the aborted fetus shouldn't have the potential to be used to do some good.

    2. To even address point number 2, you'd have to get everyone to agree at which point human life status has begun. Religious sects would argue that as soon as a sperm wiggled into an egg, it's a human......science would argue not. Personally, I'm goin with the science field

There's nothing wrong with a debate.........some just don't know how to keep it civil.
