Currently my tv faces a large window.. the window has curtins on it.. but they are not dark enough.

What do you use to help darken your room over your windows?

I use Light Blocking Shades that fo a great job of blocking sunlight. They are a cellular shade with a foil sandwiched in the middle.

You might want to look at some Black Out Cloth at a local fabric store. You could build a 1"x1" frame the same size as your window and stretch the blackout cloth over it. Kind of like making a DIY projector screen. This site shows how to make a DIY screen, follow the instructions, just on a smaller scale.

Or in addition to basic curtains, get the heavy vinyl sheet that you see in hotels between the inner curtain, and the meshishtype of curtain that you have to keep people from seeing in, but clear enough to let light in.....

I used some blackout material from a curtain shop and sewed it (yes, I used a sewing machine) to the back of the curtains, it worked great, has some kind of thin 'rubbery' type stuff in it, really makes a room dark and it is cheap, you can also pull the curtains as per usual and hey presto, light. The mrs was happy and so was I, win win.....:D

I should have said above, but the blackout backing for curtains cuts down 90% of the light on a sunny day, I used it in my bedroom too as I sleep during the day after night shifts, try it, you wont be dissapointed, and its cheap......
