finding a centre

A friend of mine bought omni mirage 260's now he is looking at the centre speaker ut the cost of the centre is 560$ cad kinda high considering he paid about 800$ for the towers...what are his optins, would a bookshelf work or 2 bookshelves (might be cheaper) what other centre could he use ?? he is driving them with a rxv740.
