is this really 100wpc ?

Stereo Power: 100 Watts per Channel (FTC, Left/Right, 40Hz - 20kHz, 0.7% THD, 8 ohms)
- Surround Power (Center): 100 Watts (40Hz - 20kHz, 0.7% THD, 8 ohms)
- Surround Power (Left/Right): 100 Watts + 100 Watts (40Hz - 20kHz, 0.7% THD, 8 ohms)
- Surround Power (LSurround/RSurround): 100 Watts + 100 Watts (40Hz - 20kHz, 0.7% THD, 8 ohms)
- Surround Power (Surround Back): 100 Watts (40Hz - 20kHz, 0.7% THD, 8 ohms)

I think this would be "sort of."

It is assuming that one will be running a sub for the low frequencies. I've seen other posts about this. I figured they were running those ratings up a bit higher to like 60Hz.

    That's the whole idea ...

It would be better if it said ...

    100 Watts per Channel 20Hz - 20kHz, 0.7% THD, 8 ohms, all channels driven.

    At least they are honest.

Judging from the specs, its a pretty low-budget receiver. Keep THD at .5% or lower (how much lower is irrelevant). Look for full range, ie 20Hz - 20Khz ratings.

A lot of 'cheap' receivers massage the power ratings, but not including that last octave of bass, which is a power hog. I'd be willing to bet you won't get even 50 watts out of it.

    Cheers,
    Russ

right it is a low end receiver, it's the kenwood in my bedroom system only powering to bookshelf JBLs but I never really thought it was 100wpc.
