Hi Steve.
I'm interested if it is still available. I need to figure out how the same radio ID# works with a new account number (new owner). I guess its not a big deal? I'd like to call XM tomorrow and find out (unless you know).
I have Sirius right now but I have dropouts where I live. I borrowed an XM Delphi over a weekend and didn't experience any dropouts.

Yea put me in the list also...I've been waffling about it for the last day or soCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Ok, PJ got dibs, Doro is next.
PJ, just a matter of me cancelling the existing account, then you call in with the ID and setup a new account. Just explain to XM that you bought the tuner used. They're very easy to work with and activation only takes about 30 mins.
Email me your address and I'll get this pup out to you, though probably Monday at the earliest.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

Doro,

PJ - You have the XM hooked up yet?
Hey doro,
Yeah, I've got it hooked up and can compare with Sirius' Kenwood H2A tuner side by side. Haven't had too much time for comparisons but this evening I did get a 5 minute dropout on Sirius which is aggravating. In my opinion, I like Sirius better when it works (no dropouts with XM at all). I find the treble and bass slightly more extended (like 10 to 15 %) and the channels to be more consistent in audio quality on Sirius. Not sure if this is a function of the tuner or the service. I'm really interested on how much improvement the Polk XM tuner will be over the Delphi. I find the Delphi to have the least gain (even with it all the way turned up) compared to the Sirius Kenwood. It is a 6 db difference depending on channels (measured with a Radio Shack meter on average); comparisons are tricky though because different material is on. Been trying to get lucky with the same song on both but that would be lucky......
The most surprising thing has been my recent acquisition of a Sansui TU-717 tuner. FM sounds fantastic on it. I find the highs / lows even more dynamic than Sirius with more texture to the music. Along with the Crane antenna that Steve turned me on to, the Sansui has been a treat.
I'll give XM a continued and extended workout here for a couple more weeks. I really wish I had that Polk tuner to do a comparison. When one looks at the size of the Delphi or the Sirius Kenwood compared to the Polk tuner, one has to wonder if that big box is fitted with better electronics that will capture more of the music from the satellite signal. The dual analog outputs with the use of regular interconnects as opposed to the 1/8 inch minijack to rca conversion may have something to do with it as well. Not sure on that one.
Compared the Acoustic Research minijack to rca vs. the Monster and couldn't tell a difference between the two. -
That Sansui is gorgeous! Good find.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I concur of the Sansui, that sure is purty
Many vintage tuners are golden inside, as in robust, solid and sensitive. It's a shame that the tuner support in newer gear is the bottom of the barrel.
I'm also really interested in the Polk XM unit, wish I could get my hands on one now :mad:CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Maybe Polk Paul can bring a unit to Troy's shindig, and give a demo?
Hint Hint.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
